“No classes until Saturday due to floods caused by Ondoy. Classes resume on Monday, October 5,” reads the text message sent to students, faculty and staff of Informatics Northgate at the aftermath of typhoon Ondoy, the typhoon that left half of Metro Manila and nearby towns under water.

With Globe’s Campus Connect, Informatics Northgate is able to communicate fast important announcements (i.e. class suspension, highlighted events, tuition fee payment deadlines, release of grades, birthday greetings, etc.) to students, parents and/or faculty and staff.

Sending text messages to students made easy

Our students and their parents used to rely on radio and TV news for announcements of class suspensions during heavy rains and typhoons. When they couldn’t get news from any media source, they would have to wait until 7 AM to call the school to confirm cancellation of classes. Then it would be too late. Moreover, faculty and staff are deluged with text messages with the same inquiry which sometimes caused confusion with so many people giving out information. But not anymore.

Students and parents are now assured that the school would send text messages of important announcements as soon as these are made available by the proper authorities – Local Government Units and/or Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Globe’s Campus Connect is online. Informatics’ designated personnel can access the facility anytime, anywhere as long as there is an Internet connection. Thus, members of Informatics Northgate community will receive real-time information. Furthermore, students and parents can communicate with the school via text through this program.

Students have access to centralized information desk.

This Informatics Northgate and Globe Telecom partnership was formalized at the opening of the current school year. This started with only a handful of student subscribers, but seeing the value of Campus Connect, more and more students and parents are now connecting with us. This facility is free for all Globe users. However, non-Globe users receive announcements through their classmates and friends with Globe mobile subscription. It is indeed communicating beyond boundaries, beyond networks.

Informatics training centers and colleges recorded a huge boost in enrollment during the first school term of the year. The increase was highly noticeable at Informatics International Colleges (IIC) offering Higher Education degree programs.

The University Belt campus, for one, reported a double-digit swell in student registration bringing the population to nearly a three-fold compared to last year’s first term.

The Informatics International Colleges facilities in Eastwood, Northgate Cyberzone Alabang, and Diliman also conveyed that the enrollment rate this year was twice as high, allowing the three colleges to more than meet their student target for the year.

Informatics Computer Institute centers were not far behind. After all, Informatics is the country’s leader in providing IT literacy and advanced IT programs to corporate individuals and companies.

Walk-in registrants are high in mall-based centers like in SM Southmall and Megamall.

The latest enrollment stream can be attributed to Informatics’ dynamic course offerings, with programs periodically updated to keep up with today’s technology and industry trends.

Also, not many people know that aside from the short courses, Informatics offers Higher Education (HE) program where learners may finish a 3-year Bachelor or 2-year Diploma degrees. The school holds trimestral class terms and uses the British style Ladderized System, which gives students flexibility in schedule and recognition after each year level.

Furthermore, the HE program is affiliated with top universities in the US, UK, and Asia-Pacific, and the certification being awarded are highly recognized worldwide.

Students may also avail of Informatics’ blended approach of online learning combined with minimal class sessions and earn the same credentials offered to regular students.

Informatics’ second school term begins in September. For complete course list and schedules, visit http://www.informatics.edu.ph.
